Collagen
Collagen is a bio-material and its role in wound managment is a well documented subject. Collagen encourages wound healing through the deposition and organization of freshly formed collagen fiber and granulation tissues in the wound bed and then creating an environment very conducive to wound healing.
Indications :
Availability : 2.5ml, 5ml, 10ml & 15ml
Application Method :
Cleanse the wound bed with normal saline to the extent with out causing trauma and accordingly adjust the irrigation pressure to drive out the slough and apply topical medication as necessary.
Sprinkle collofibre particles to cover the surface.
In the case of tunneled and undermined wounds, collofibre can be made into a paste or a solution with normal saline to ensure that collofibre particles are penetrated into the wound cavities.
Cover the Wound with a non-adherent dressing of choice.
The frequency of application of collofibre particles can be initially on daily basis and subsequently increased to once in 2-3 days depending upon the condition of the wound as suggested by the treating surgeon until the wound bed is prepared for closure with graft/flap cover.
Precaution and warnings :
Storage : Collofibre particles to be stored in normal room temperature.
